Saawariya was released in 2007, and it introduced two new fresh faces to Bollywood: Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor. The film, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, didn’t perform well at the box office, but Ranbir and Sonam were praised for their performances.

Many people are unaware that Ranbir Kapoor was not the director’s first choice for Saawariya.

Prateik Babbar recently revealed in an interview that he was a contender for Ranbir’s role in Saawariya. He said, “I have a funny story. Mr Sanjay Leela Bhansali was calling my house when I was 18 years old, when I was in rehab, for Saawariya. I was too young, and I was in rehab, so that it couldn’t have worked out. But my grandparents told me a few years later.”

The Dhobi Ghat actor also stated that he has no regrets about missing the project because he has no intention of becoming an actor.

Prateik shared, “I never wanted to be an actor. I just stumbled into it, and it became my calling. Since both my folks were actors – and good actors. I wanted to be a rockstar at that time, far away from the world of acting. I wanted to grow my hair, wear eye make-up, face make-up and scream on stage. Before that, I wanted to be a cricketer.”

How Prateik Made His Bollywood Debut

Prateik decided to make his career in the film industry in 2008 with Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, and what an unusual debut it was! The actor portrayed Amit, a cute, long-haired, aloof, and artsy young man. While Prateik’s limited screen time, he stole the show with his sarcastic dialogue and penetrating gaze.

Prateik has appeared in films such as ‘Dhobi Ghat,’ ‘Isaac,’ ‘Mulk,’ and ‘Chhichhore,’ among others. Prateik Babbar’s next film will be Bachchan Pandey, directed by Farhad Samji. Among those who appear in it are Akshay Kumar, Kriti Sanon, Arshad Warsi, and Jacqueline Fernandez.
